Stephanie Martini co-founded the Foundation for Small Voices with composer Jim Papoulis. Their inspiration for establishing FSV stemmed from their belief in music’s ability to empower children’s lives, reaching across cultural boundaries. They recognized the unifying force of music as a tool of communication and expression that everyone can use. Stephanie created programs that continue to bring mentoring, songwriting, and performance opportunities to children worldwide.
Stephanie served as the Executive Director of FSV for 8 years and was the driving force behind the program development and day-to-day operations. Her dedication to service and making a difference was evident in all her endeavors. Other organizations fortunate enough to experience her energy and benefit from her efforts include: The Rudolf Steiner School NYC, where she served as Board Member, Parent Council Member, longtime Fall Fair Co-Chair and Chair of the 75th Anniversary Celebration; Gilda’s Club’s First Annual Walkathon; and Fair Trade USA where she was Chair for the Leadership Committee.
Though this organization has suffered the loss of an inspiring leader, Stephanie’s legacy continues to motivate many to carry on FSV’s work and to hearten all who believe in the possibility of a better world for our children. The Board of Directors, sponsors, and volunteers remain committed to realizing Stephanie’s vision and ensuring that music thrives in underserved communities and that children learn that the power of its language is theirs. Thank you for joining us on this journey, for caring about Stephanie and helping to make possible her dreams – the sounds of a better world.
